Bible Classes

Counselors who come to work at the camp get tons of ministry experience and life changing stories, and now can also receive a well-balanced training in the Bible as well to further growth.

For those who are entering their Junior or Senior year of High School, you can receive a “Jump Start” toward your associates degree at Portland Bible College OR just enjoy growing in the bible during the summer!

These classes are also for those who just want to learn more, no matter age. If you want to take a summer to focus on two classes of the Bible, we are here!

We offer two classes over a 5 week period on Sunday afternoons and Monday & Tuesday nights. The classes we offer are:

-Worship in the Bible :: (2 credits)

Monday 6:30-8:30

Tuesday 7:30

Worship is one of the major themes within the Bible. It can be argued that it is THE major theme not just in the Bible, but also in our lives. This class will study different passages in the bible, showing significance in the locations, characters and timelines within the passage and surrounding the worship. The material is designed to evaluate in tangible ways whether our worship is accomplishing its intended purpose, which includes honoring God and impacting the lives of the worshiper. Whether you are musically gifted or not, worship is meant to be the integral part of every Christian’s relationship with Christ. You will walk away from this course with a clear picture of what the Bible has to say of worship.

-New Testament Survey :: (2 Credits)

Sunday 1:30-3:30

Tuesday 6:30

The New Testament introduces an exciting new dynamic into the scripture – the work of Jesus Christ on the cross and the work of the Holy Spirit. This course will help establish for the student seamless connection and continuity between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Equally important this class will provide the student with the historical and cultural backdrop that influenced the writing of each of the New Testament’s 27 books. By grasping the original intent of each book, the audience it was written to, and the unique challenges and events being addressed by the author, the believer can better comprehend and apply the timeless truths the text contains.

Both Classes are partially accredited through Portland Bible College and can be applied toward an Associates degree through them either on campus or on-line.
