Camp Berachah Ministries, as an independent evangelical Christian ministry, desires to operate in partnership and unity with local churches.  The Board of Directors accepts a doctrine of Biblical accountability within the Body of Christ, and has invited local churches to serve in an advisory role to counsel and advise this ministry.  Specifically, Advisory Churches affirm the ministry and purpose of Camp Berachah Ministries, their Statement of Faith, and agrees to hold the organization accountable to minister within those guidelines.  Churches are invited to send representatives to the annual meeting for the purpose of reviewing and exchanging information pertaining to the ministry.  The relationship between each church and Camp Berachah Ministries is voluntary and based on the mutual desire to be involved in the ministry and outreach of Christian camps and conferences.

  

Advisory Churches

 

Many different churches attend our Adult-Family Life Events and Summer Camps.  We welcome church groups who would like to participate or partner with us in providing these programs.  For more information on how you can become a partnership church, please call or email us.

Steve Altick, President/CEO (2014)

Steve has been the director of Camp Berachah Ministries since 1984.  He is a retired Air Force officer and an ordained minister since 1986.  He graduated from Oregon State University, and has completed graduate work at seminary and several senior service colleges.  He and his wife Kathy have three kids and five grandchildren.


Russ Babcock, Board Member (2013)
Russ joined the board in 1998.  He is an Associate Pastor at Sonrise Chapel in Everett, WA.  He has been active in planning camps for many years.  He speaks often at youth gatherings, and is responsible for the youth group at his church.  He and his wife Kim are active in leading worship at their church.

Gary Benton, Chairman (2013)
A board member since 1999, Gary is on the pastoral staff of Life Center Church in Tacoma, working as a counselor and family life minister.     He speaks and counsels on a national scale, and is active in serving different groups within the community.  He and his wife Donna have one daughter and live in Tacoma.


Brian Christian, Executive Director(2011)

Brian taught computer and physical education in the Rainier Christian School system before coming to Camp Berachah as Executive Director. Previously he served as a counselor, athletic director, and principal at middle and high schools. Brian has an undergraduate and masters degree from Seattle Pacific University. He worked at Camp Berachah while attending college for several years, and became an active supporter. His wife Amy is a nurse, and they have two children.

 

Kathy Erdahl, Board Member (2012)

Kathy teams with her husband as Directors of Congregational Ministries at Boulevard Park Presbyterian church. They oversee the ministries to children, small groups, and senior citizens. Previously, Kathy was a Business Education Teacher and Assistant Principal. Kathy attended Camp Berachah as a child and later became a summer camp counselor.

 

Bill Keim, Board Member (2011) 
Bill is a retired business executive; he is active in his church, and sings lead tenor in the Gladtimers Quartet.  This group travels throughout the northwest for concerts and ministry in churches and meetings.  He and his wife Glenna are active in their music ministry together.


David Lundquist, Board Member (2012) 

David is an Associate Pastor at Westgate Chapel in Edmonds.  He grew up attending Camp Berachah.  He has been active in youth and adult ministry outreaches at his church.   He is married with five daughters.

 

Dale Pratt, Board Member (2014) 

Dale is the Senior Pastor of Cedar Community Church in Buckley, WA and has been a pastor for over 41 years. Dale and his wife Mary have been married for 44 years, have 2 grown sons and 4 grandchildren. Dale has a love for Christian camping, and has been involved in planning and speaking at many retreats and camps..

Scott Shelford, Treasurer (2013)

Scott is a owner/partner of a commercial fishing company.  He spends time in Alaska on board ship, and manages the company offices in Seattle.  He attended Camp Berachah as a young camper, and through his active participation at his church now has joined the ministry as a board member.  His wife is Dana and they have been married for 16 yrs., and they have 2 children.

 

John Stewart, Chairman (2012)

John joined our board in 1997.  A former radio host, known as the “Bible Answer Man”, he is an ordained pastor, and a practicing attorney in Southern California.  He is a well known Christian Apologist and speaker. He and his wife Laurie have founded Rolling Stones Ministry, with the goal of teaching and encouraging; they have traveled and taught in India and Kenya

 

Laurie Stewart, Board Member (2012)

Laurie is an attorney, speaker and writer. She has a degree in theatre and her doctorate in law from Chapman University School of Law. She is also President of Rolling Stone Ministries and works with her husband teaching and speaking to many groups in different countries.

 

Phil Trout, Board Member (2013)

Phil is currently a Dristrict Sales Manager for Sysco Foods and he has been a supporter of the camping ministry for many years. His Christian walk began in the same church he now attends in Auburn (Grace Community) where he is active in leadership and ministry. Phil is married and live in Auburn with his family

 


Ron DeVore, Associate Board Member

Ron has been an associate member of the board since 1990. He is a former businessman and ordained pastor who is now in missionary work in Uganda.

 

Paul Putnam, Board Member (Emeritus)

Paul has been on the board of directors since 1990.  He is a contractor and developer who has a successful business in the Puget Sound Area.  A former missionary, he is active in his church and in promoting camp programs.

Floyd Taylor, Board Member (Emeritus)

Floyd has been a member of the board of directors since 1990.  He is a retired Boeing Executive, heads up his own consulting company, is an elder in his home church and serves on several ministry boards in the area.
